A little about Melissa…
To be honest…
I think a lot of marketing is bullshit.
Too many people get caught up in flashy campaigns and trendy buzzwords, forgetting that marketing should serve a real purpose: driving business growth.
Everything I do in marketing is focused on aligning strategies with business goals and objectives to move the needle and increase the bottom line. In today's data-driven world, there’s no excuse for being unable to track and showcase how marketing efforts contribute positively to revenue.
I grew up in a blue-collar fishing community in midcoast Maine, which taught me the value of hard work and grit. After college in Boston, I moved to San Francisco with no money, no place to live, and no job—just a determination to “get into marketing.”
I landed a position at an ad agency, where I was responsible for onboarding HubSpot and reselling the software to our clients. I turned this into a massive revenue stream for the agency, proving the power of strategic marketing aligned with real business needs.
Eventually, I realized the agency model wasn’t for me, so I left to start my own consulting business. I’ve been doing that ever since, primarily helping startups and SaaS businesses implement marketing strategies that are measurable, scalable, and directly tied to their financial success.
My approach is always rooted in the belief that if your marketing isn’t making an impact on the bottom line, it’s just noise.
My ‘Anti-Process’ Process
I am anti-agency to my core, so when I hear the word “process,” I instantly cringe. I don’t think it’s productive or beneficial to mold a client’s workflow to what I think is best. I mold my workflow to fit your organization's current day-to-day.
Because, realistically, you don’t have time to conform to a new process simply for the sake of getting a project done.
Here’s a quick overview of how I approach our working arrangement…
Deep discovery
I start with in-depth conversations and analysis with core stakeholders to fully understand my client's business, challenges, goals, and existing processes.
Custom proposal
After discovery, I craft a tailored proposal with multiple options that outlines potential recommended strategies, services, and solutions.
Detailed plan
I'm a big planner and I love details, so my next step is to create a strategic consultative plan to address the client's key issues, outlining clear solutions and actionable steps.
Implementation
Next is pretty straight forward. I/we execute the plan. Throughout this phase, I'm big on almost OVER-communicating where I'm at and what I'm seeing.
Custom reporting
Custom dashboards and reporting tools are developed to track the performance of implemented solutions. These reports focus on key metrics, demonstrating the impact on business operations and proving the value of the work completed.
Documentation
I make sure everything—from processes and workflows to systems used—is fully documented, so you have clear, easy-to-follow instructions for ongoing use and future growth.
