What's a CRM? Why do I need one?

If you’re asking yourself, “What’s a CRM?” You’re not alone.

However, it’s a question that’s incredibly important to the success of your business and you’re probably already doing some form of it.

So, what is a CRM?

CRM stands for customer relationship management. Essentially, a CRM is a software program that compiles important data surrounding customer interactions, such as contact lists, account info, and sales opportunities, all in one spot.

Additionally, this software looks over the entire lifecycle of the customer and analyzes collected data to help you increase leads, secure accounts, and promote customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Ultimately, the purpose of CRM is improved customer service, increased customer retention, and more significant sales growth.

But, why do you need CRM Software?

Alongside the previously stated definition, CRM equates to a business intelligence program. And, who wouldn’t want to run a smarter business?  That said, CRM is quickly becoming the lifeblood of any well-managed customer-base.

Ok, now that we’ve got that covered, do you really need a CRM?

Chances are the answer is a resounding YES! You may be using some type of spreadsheet to manage this data now, but there’s an easier way.

That said, we all know it would be silly to run out and buy the first CRM Software you find. Not to mention, relying on Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheets is a thing of the past when it comes to customer relations.

So, let’s take a look at some snapshots of the best CRM Software on the market today.

In the End

Even if you have a small customer base, it’s impossible for anyone to keep track of every little detail pertaining to their customers. Now, more than ever, small businesses can use technology to out-perform same-sized businesses and to stay ahead of the curve.

CRM is an invaluable asset to your business. Not only can it help salespeople stay on top of what they do best, but it also can help your entire company, literally, stay on the same page. To the same effect, a CRM increases your company’s overall efficiency, and you’ll see more revenue per employee.

After all, we live in a fast-paced marketplace where buying, selling and communicating get accomplished in loads of different ways. To boot, technology lowers barriers for entry, which, in turn, makes for a highly competitive landscape. Every day we see businesses and entrepreneurs endure or succumb to the ups and downs experienced through Social Media, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Yelp. CRM helps keep track of your business at every level and could be just what your company needs to move forward.
