2014 Facebook Updates

Do you ever feel like it's next to impossible to keep up with all the little tweaks and changes to our favorite social media platforms? AND their advertising platforms? I certainly do!

That's why I wanted to address some of my favorite and significant 2014 Facebook Updates.

I most certainly don't want to use this blog as a platform to talk politics, but I would say today it is most definitely appropriate.  Especially given some serious social media records that were set yesterday. November 6, 2012 was unarguably one of the most popular days for social media. Social media played a big role in spread information leading up to the election, throughout the day yesterday and I imagine will continue to do so post the election.

Social media has played a large part in this 2012 election. Both presidential candidates, Senator Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama, have Twitter accounts with avid followers. During this year's election events, like last night's debate, millions of users respond and, in 140 characters or less, post their political opinions, reiterations, favorite quotes etc. Just take a look at last night's Twitter tracking of the debates:

You may or may have not noticed that the amount of "likes" on popular Facebook fan pages have dropped significantly in the past 36 hours. This is not a mistake.  According to TechCrunch, Facebook is deleting fake accounts and "bad" likes as part of the the initiative aimed at increasing Facebook's integrity which launched last month.
